The 50+50 Challenge
Fellow Wake Forest Law Alumni,
What a year, huh? If you are like me, you keep reminding yourself to be thankful for the good things that have happened, and for the blessings we have received during the pandemic.
As Chair of the School of Law Board of Visitors, I have remained engaged with Dean Jane Aiken and others at the law school. They have kept the law school experience relevant by adding new programs and courses, such as financial literacy for lawyers, and have been achieving a number of successes that have taken Wake Forest Law to new heights of recognition among our peer institutions. You hopefully saw the latest stats on our student employment and bar success in Dean Aiken’s recent letter, and I want to once again thank you for your continued generosity that helps fuel this success. Now, I want to ask for a relatively small favor.
First, the good news! With new donors, and new commitments from prior donors, the law school has generated more scholarship dollars to help attract top students and other qualified students with financial need. The Development team has successfully increased the Law Fund coffers this past year, but our alumni participation rate is still lower than our peer schools.
Which brings me to the even better news! Thanks to a generous donor, we have the opportunity to increase that participation rate and raise more money for the fund before the fiscal year ends on June 30. The 50+50 Challenge calls on us to raise $50,000 from new gifts, increased gifts from prior donations, and first-year pledge payments on new Giving Society pledges that will be matched with another $50,000! If we can make this happen, fiscal year 2020-2021 will top all prior years for the Law Fund! This money will enable the school to shore up for newly arising needs, but also allow it to pursue enhancements to fulfill visions that were tabled due to pandemic cuts.
There are a lot of WFU Law School alumni out there. Consider a gift to the Law Fund right now and help us make history as the best fund-raising year on record. Please help us spread the word and forward to your networks who care about our Law School.
Thank you so much for your continued support. Please join me in supporting the Law Fund. Any gift you make will be greatly appreciated. All the best to you!
