Matthew Stalnaker (MDiv ’09)

Matthew StalnakerApplying to divinity school shortly after an opportunity to live and study in the religiously diverse climate of Indonesia, I approached the process intensely aware of the necessity of responsible religious dialogue in the continuing mission of the church. The location of the divinity school’s curriculum in the wider university environment has proven essential for my ministerial and vocational preparation.

Attending Wake Forest has not only allowed me to supplement the traditional biblical, theological, historical, and ministerial elements of the Divinity curriculum with courses in Asian religions and languages, but also to participate in an internship where I facilitated inter-religious dialogue within the university population. As the church continues to develop the new paradigms of ministry required in our changing world, it is increasingly important that resources such as those at Wake Forest are available for divinity students.
